Dear Families,
As we approach the end of another successful school year, we want to share important information about end-of-year testing for CCS students.
These assessments help measure students’ academic progress and provide valuable information about how well they have mastered grade-level standards. The results also help schools and teachers identify areas of strength, determine where additional support may be needed, and plan instruction for the future.
This year, schools will place an added emphasis on technology security and testing procedures. To protect the integrity of the testing environment, students should not bring or use electronic devices including cell phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, earbuds, or other unauthorized electronic devices during testing sessions. Families can help by reviewing these expectations with their child before testing begins.
Please be aware that if an electronic device is found on any student during testing, whether in use or not, it will be considered an automatic misadministration and the student will be required to retake the assessment.
Students will also notice that testing supervision and security procedures will be closely enforced throughout the testing window. These measures are in place to ensure a fair, secure, and distraction-free environment for all students.
For students in grades 3–8, end-of-year tests will be administered on designated testing dates at each school. Students will be assessed in:
Mathematics- May 29
English Language Arts- May 28
Science (Grades 5 and 8 only)- June 2
High school students will take exams during the last five days of the school year. Please check your child’s school website or communication from your school for specific testing dates and times.
We know that testing season can feel stressful for students, and families can play an important role in helping children feel prepared and confident. You can support your child by:
Making sure they get a good night’s sleep before each testing day
Providing a healthy breakfast
Encouraging them to do their best
Helping them arrive at school on time
Once tests are scored, schools will share results with families. The fastest way to access your student’s scores is through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you do not yet have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account, you can create one online at www.chatham.k12.nc.us/o/ccs/page/student-information, or contact the data manager at your child’s school.
Families can visit the Accountability page on the CCS website for parent resources, videos, and more information related to testing.
Please note that students who do not initially receive a proficient score will have an additional opportunity to demonstrate their learning during a second administration that will occur throughout the last week of school.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We appreciate all you do to help our students succeed.
